History

Middle East Survey & Control Office was established in 1960 by its chairman Mr. Hamdy El Sabbagh, ex-under secretary of state, ministry of maritime transport and ministry of finance, who was followed by Mr. Ashraf El Sabbagh. Middle East Survey & Control Office (MESCO) has committed itself during the past half century to providing an unequivocal level of service to its clients.

Over those years, our company operated in international and local insurance markets as independent consultants and with our skills being entirely devoted to our clients, we believe that being our own masters makes us better servants.

It is through the belief of our management that the most important asset is our human capital, and the ongoing investment in them. Through training and alongside experience, MESCO has been the one stop place for all of those seeking any kind of assistance in the shipping/ insurance market in Egypt.

The effectiveness and commercial success of our business has been put in light by our core capabilities that are based on our proven consultancy skills, local knowledge and expertise.

Although our correspondents side of the business has not been there for long, in only about a decade we have proven to all those who have used our service that we maintain a level of professionalism that was not seen before in Egypt. We maintain and continue to emphasize that the client’s best interest is our priority; thus, we have established a legal department almost three years ago to serve our commercial department.

In the age of information that we are part of and shipping is not lightly affected by it. Every ship owner or club requires that they be kept up to date with all that goes on, and through our connections and network of surveyors we have been able to provide a proficient flow of information that has made it easier for those in a position to take decisions under an informed basis.

Over the years we have gained best access to the best experienced surveyors in the market for which we appoint the most qualified surveyor in accordance with the needs of each case. We can perform any cargo work in addition to Hull work, we receive instructions from various H&M underwriters like Tokyo Marine, British Marine H&M, etc… we also have good experience in reporting accidents and their causes, monitoring of the repairs and finding a qualified work shop to convenience your need.

Our services are offered at market-related costs and we commit ourselves to improve procedures and efficiency in such a way leading to significant and substantial medium and long-term savings to our clients.

As a result, our company has maintained a high level of quality P & I correspondence, serving the interests of almost all existing protection and indemnity clubs.
